New Detained in Córdoba Murder Case, Which Was an 'Error'

Buenos Aires, Jan 27 (NA) – A new detainee has been taken into custody in the investigation into the brutal murder of Paolo de la Fuente in Córdoba province, which was an “error.” This newly arrested individual is the man the accused, Agustín Brian Vilchez, intended to kill due to a previous dispute.

On Wednesday, January 7, the victim was returning from playing soccer with friends when he was run over and shot 15 times. This left him hospitalized for over 10 days until he passed away on January 21. For investigators, this act was what motivated the retaliation, which ultimately resulted in an innocent man being killed by mistake.

Vilchez will be re-interrogated in the coming hours regarding the new accusation, while he remains imprisoned in the Río Cuarto jail.

However, as the investigation progressed, it was confirmed that the attacker had mistaken the victim. Currently, Vilchez is detained on charges of qualified homicide with a firearm. In recent hours, authorities, as learned by the Argentine News Agency, arrested another neighbor in the Playa Bonita area who may be connected to the case.

This concerns a 26-year-old young man, Ojeda by last name, who was detained by the Police following a call through the 'Ojos en Alerta' system about an armed man in the neighborhood.

According to information from the media outlet La Voz, this new detainee had allegedly shot at Vilchez's home prior to the attack on Paolo.
