Abel Pintos Supports Artists Criticized for Political Speech at Cosquín Festival

Abel Pintos, an artist from Bahía Blanca, spoke out in support of his colleagues who received recent criticism for expressing their political views on the stage of the National Folklore Festival of Cosquín 2026. According to Noticias Argentinas agency, the artist was one of the main figures on the third night of the event. The Próspero Molina plaza was dressed in gala, and the Cosquín Folklore 2026 festival began. After his performance, Pintos spoke with the media Cadena 3 and shared his opinion on political expression from the stage: «It has always been present throughout the years. Many great idols of popular music have used their singing precisely to express their ideas.» When asked why it is done through song and not through a speech, Pintos emphasized the importance of the plurality of voices. «No, no, I don't think it's wrong. We live in democracy, thank God,» he concluded, downplaying the controversy and validating his colleagues' right to express themselves through art.
