Argentine court confirms sentence for trafficking of deadly drug

Buenos Aires, Dec. 3 (NA) -- The Federal Chamber of Criminal Cassation confirmed a four-year prison sentence for a man who attempted to transport 76 doses of 25E-NBOH, a synthetic drug known on the street as "La Bomba," which is highly toxic and dangerous.

According to the Argentine News Agency, the accused was intercepted at Córdoba International Airport in December 2023, before boarding a flight to El Calafate, carrying the substance hidden in his carry-on luggage.

Chats and "criminal intent"

The tribunal, composed by Judge Ángela Ledesma and Judges Guillermo Yacobucci and Alejandro Slokar, upheld the drug trafficking conviction and rejected the defense's arguments.

They dismissed the attempt: The judges rejected the argument that the act was only an attempt because the flight had not taken off, considering that the criminal act was already configured.

Intent to Sell: The opening of the accused's phone was key. Chats with a contact identified as "Tommy" revealed the organization of the purchase and subsequent resale of "three sheets of 25 doses," proving the "criminal intent" to market the drug.

"La Bomba" is a designer drug that mimics the effects of LSD, but it is known for its high toxicity and more unpredictable health effects, which aggravated the sentence.
