Shakira in Córdoba: Unprecedented Economic Impact

According to official projections, the tourism and hospitality sector will be the main beneficiary. As reported by the Argentine News Agency, Dario Capitani, president of the Córdoba Tourism Agency, announced that the show «will have the greatest economic impact in the history of Córdoba». Capitani described the season as «positive», highlighting that over 180,000 tourists traveled through Córdoba, generating an economic impact close to 22 billion pesos. The head of Tourism underscored the importance of government support: «The decision of Governor Martín Llaryora to support and promote public policies aligned with major cultural and sporting events is key to sustaining this level of activity». The official confirmed that hotel occupancy in Córdoba Capital has already reached 100%, with strong demand extending to nearby areas such as Sierras Chicas, Villa Carlos Paz, and Alta Gracia. Official estimates calculate that around 120,000 people—including concert attendees and their companions—will visit the province specifically for the concerts. Even before the second date was added, organizers estimated that the economic impact of the mobilization would be around 55 million dollars. Capitani stated that attendance and the economic effect «will be greater than those of previous international concerts such as Metallica, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Paul McCartney, Luis Miguel or Ricky Martin». These exceptional numbers add to a successful long weekend at the end of the year. Unprecedented attendance is being seen in Córdoba hours before the two Shakira concerts, with tickets practically sold out.
