Córdoba Airport Invests in 24,000 m² Expansion

Argentine company Aeropuertos Argentina has announced key investments to transform the 'Ambrosio Taravella' terminal into a first-level regional hub. The project, seen by Noticias Argentinas, contemplates an expansion to 24,000 m², seven new boarding gates, and the doubling of the domestic flights sector in response to a record increase in passenger and cargo traffic. The initiative, designed in coordination with the National Airports System Regulatory Body (ORSNA) and the Secretariat of Transport, aims to address the sustained growth in air demand and consolidate the province as a strategic logistics and tourism hub in South America. The main work will focus on an expansion of 4,300 m², raising the terminal's total area from the current 19,700 m² to 24,000 m². This makes us one of the most important airports in Argentina and also in South America. Parallel to the passenger flow, the 'Taravella' has strengthened its role as a logistics hub for import and export. Between January and October 2025, the terminal handled 721,258 kg of imports (42% more than in 2024) and 444,596 kg of exports (a 14% increase). This dynamism is explained by the addition of new cargo frequencies and operators, including Avianca, Air Class, LATAM, LATAM Perú, Air Europa, and Copa Airlines. With a network of destinations connecting the province to 19 Argentine cities and 14 international destinations—from Madrid to Panama—and a modernization plan for 2026-2027, Córdoba airport is preparing to validate its position as one of the top 10 terminals in the region. During the presentation, authorities highlighted the importance of public-private partnership for the completion of these works. Among the most outstanding interventions of the modernization plan are: Check-in Area: 7 new counters will be incorporated, reaching a total of 31 service points, plus a 200 m² expansion in the main hall to improve peak-hour flow. Domestic Boarding: This sector will undergo the most radical transformation, growing from 960 m² to 2,600 m², doubling its current capacity. International Boarding: It will be expanded by 40% (280 m² additional), bringing the total area to 1,800 m². Gates and Jet Bridges: The terminal will go from having 4 to 7 boarding gates, including the creation of a new remote boarding with two gates. Services and Technology: Two new VIP lounges, a new Duty Free, and a renewal of the commercial offer will be built.
