A man was charged with murdering a 26-year-old man by stabbing him after a public argument in Río Negro. The victim was consuming alcohol inside his parked vehicle. According to the Argentine News Agency and the Río Negro Public Ministry, the suspect had been on the run since the murder of Agustín Nicolás Troncoso, which occurred on December 7, 2025, and was remanded in custody during the investigation. The incident took place around 11:30 PM near Los Horneros Street in the 2 de Agosto neighborhood of Cipolletti. Troncoso had stopped his vehicle, was inside with his friends, when the exchange with the aggressor began, and both got out of the car. The prosecution's account stated that during the confrontation, the accused took a knife from his clothing and injured the victim in the right armpit area, hitting a vital area and causing Troncoso's death at the scene. After the attack, the assailant fled the scene, while the young man was left lying on the street with no vital signs, so he is charged with simple homicide as the perpetrator of the crime, to which the prosecution agreed. The accusation included the testimony of an eyewitness who had connected the victim with the perpetrator for the former to get a tattoo, as he was dedicated to that. Additionally, other testimonies from people at the scene who alerted the authorities coincided with the statement. On his part, the defense presented a different version and proposed the possibility that the events occurred within a defensive attitude of the accused, while the guarantees judge clarified that this qualification must be proven. She also ordered the preventive detention of the man for the same four months in which the investigation will be carried out.
