A 21-year-old young man crashed his vehicle into a tree and was rescued by a friend in an incident involving two stolen cars. The event took place on Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Catriel and San Cayetano streets, being reported to the police via a 911 call about a red Renault Sandero and a green Volkswagen Gol involved in the crash.
Upon arrival, the police saw that both drivers attempted to flee, but one of them, the young man who suffered the accident, was captured on Catriel street at 10,650 with the assistance of the Technical Operational Cabinet and the Second Chief of the Substation of Parque Hermoso. The young man claimed to be a taxi driver, but it was found that both vehicles had active theft reports.
The Volkswagen Gol had an active seizure request since January 25 at the request of the 2nd Police Station, while the Renault Sandero had an active seizure request since January 1 at the 16th Police Station. Both vehicles also had false license plates at the time of the accident.
During an urgent search of the Sandero authorized by Prosecutor María Isabel Sánchez, a Tranque brand .38 caliber revolver with four intact bullets was found. After the vehicle inspection, the judicial authority ordered the transfer of the detained young man to Penal Unit No. 44 of Batán for concealment and illegal possession of a firearm.
