AFA Investigates Deportivo Riestra Over Controversial Player Inclusion

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has initiated an investigation into Deportivo Riestra due to the controversial inclusion of the YouTuber "Spreen" in the match where they drew 1-1 with Vélez. The YouTuber barely played a minute and was then substituted, which generated criticism for his debut in the top category. The AFA, through its Ethics Tribunal, decided to open a file due to possible conduct that could harm the reputation and integrity of Argentine football, especially if it involves illegal or immoral behaviors.

After the opening of the file, Deportivo Riestra will have to provide evidence and documents requested by the Tribunal to determine whether their conduct has violated any ethical or regulatory standards. Ivan Raúl Buhajeruk, known as Spreen, started as a starter in the match but hardly participated in the game, being substituted after ten seconds without touching the ball, when the clock showed nearly a minute of play. Despite having over 16 million followers on social media, his debut on the twenty-second date of the Professional League raised suspicions, especially concerning betting houses that offered prizes for specific situations in his participation in the match.
