
Argentinian tennis player Tomás Etcheverry faced Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov in the second round of the Paris Masters 1000 in an exciting match that ended with Dimitrov's victory by 6-7(9), 6-3 and 7-5.
Etcheverry started the match favorably, achieving a solid performance that allowed him to take the first set in a close tie-break. However, Dimitrov reacted in the second set and broke the Argentinian's serve twice, taking the score to 6-3 and bringing the match to the deciding set.
Despite Dimitrov's firmness in his serve, Etcheverry remained tenacious in his service games, managing to equalize 5-5 in the final set. After 2 hours and 45 minutes of play, Dimitrov secured the decisive break in the twelfth game, ensuring his victory by 7-5.
Dimitrov advanced to the round of 16 where he will face Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech. In this last Masters 1000 of the season in Paris, the Bulgarian aims to continue shining, especially after the elimination of Daniil Medvedev, ranked fifth in the world, by Alexei Popyrin.
Meanwhile, the only remaining Argentinian in the tournament is Francisco Cerúndolo, who surprised by eliminating the sixth seed, Andrey Rublev. In the round of 16, Cerúndolo will face Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Additionally, this Wednesday, two title contenders will clash: German Alexander Zverev and American Taylor Fritz.
