The Argentine Football Association (AFA) has confirmed the implementation of a pilot program for the return of away fans in lower-division football. This measure aims to normalize the presence of both fan groups in stadiums. The initiative will be carried out in specific matches of the National Primera, where both sets of fans will once again coexist in the stands, something that has not happened regularly for over a decade. The matches chosen for this experience are Quilmes vs. Nueva Chicago and Colegiales vs. Temperley, as part of the tenth round of the championship. The measure will be implemented with a strong security operation and in coordination with the authorities of the Province of Buenos Aires, with the aim of evaluating its operation and analyzing a possible extension to other matches. The AFA highlighted that the success of the pilot will depend on the behavior of the fans and stressed the importance of experiencing the matches “as a festival of sport,” in a message directed to the four fan groups involved. The return of away fans represents a significant step within Argentine football, which for years has sought to recover one of its traditional characteristics, albeit under new conditions of security and organization.
