The national government has modified the scholarship regime for high-performance athletes, coaches, and professionals in the area, incorporating into the system the categories known as “South American Excellence” and “National Evita Sports Games”. The South American Excellence category is aimed at athletes who did not win medals in world or panamerican championships, while the second one rewards achievements in national games to identify talents early. These changes seek to adjust the system to the Olympic cycle with a projection towards Los Angeles 2026. This was established in Resolution 43/2026 of the Secretariat of the Interior, published this Monday in the Official Bulletin and processed by the Argentine News Agency. The official text states that the incorporation of the category related to national games aims to “validate, through this benefit, the sporting merit within the Scholarship Regime”. Regarding the financial impact of the measure, the document clarifies that “issuing this act does not imply budgetary expenditure by this body”. The new category frameworks and their monthly payments for athletes will be valid until March 31, 2027. Likewise, the regulation extends until the same date the amounts allocated to “Coaches, Professionals in Applied Sports Sciences, and Administrative Technical Personnel”.
