Argentine driver Franco Colapinto (Alpine) reviewed the first two free practice sessions for the Japanese Grand Prix, the third round of the Formula 1 championship, and acknowledged that “we have details to review and correct”. “Overall, it has been a complicated day of training, but we have learned a lot. It's the first time I've driven at Suzuka, this legendary circuit, and it was great to experience it with a Formula 1 car and tackle some of these very special corners,” Colapinto began, who finished 16th in the first practice session and 17th in the second. In turn, he detailed that as he gained confidence while driving at the iconic Suzuka Circuit: “At the end of the first session, we were in a much better position, although not entirely confident with the car, especially in some of the high-speed zones”. Regarding the second free practice, which took place between 3 and 4 AM this Friday (Argentina time), Colapinto analyzed: “It was similar, so we have some details to review and correct, and we hope to be able to get to tomorrow's qualifying in a much better and more competitive position”. Although it is his third season in Formula 1, this edition is the first in which Colapinto is competing in the Japanese Grand Prix, since in both 2024 and 2025 he moved to the pinnacle of motorsport after said GP had already passed on the calendar. According to the Argentine News Agency, Colapinto's activity at the Japanese GP will continue this Friday night with the third and final free practice, while qualifying will be at 3 AM.
