Removal of Political Murals in Argentina

The Deputy Chief of the Cabinet of the Interior, Lisandro Catalán, confirmed that murals of Néstor Kirchner located in public buildings in the city are being removed as part of a measure to implement "partisan neutrality." Among the actions taken so far is the removal of a mural at the Retiro branch of Correo Oficial.

The government initiative, announced last Friday, involves the elimination of busts, flags, pictures, and other political elements from public spaces. The Minister of Human Capital, Sandra Pettovello, was responsible for making the official announcement. A bust of Néstor Kirchner that was in the offices of ANSES was removed, as well as posters featuring Eva Perón from other public buildings.

In his statements, Lisandro Catalán referred to the importance of maintaining political neutrality in public buildings, declaring that they belong to all Argentinians. The official assured that the decision to remove graffiti and party symbols aims to guarantee freedom of expression and thought in these spaces.
