Milei Meets Trump at CPAC

The president of Argentina, Javier Milei, traveled to Florida, United States, this Thursday to participate in the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and meet with the elected president of the U.S., Donald Trump, according to official sources reported to the EFE news agency. The CPAC, which brings together American conservative forces, is being held in Palm Beach until next Saturday, the city where Trump owns a mansion known as Mar-a-Lago. Milei plans to meet with the Republican before his inauguration on January 20.

In statements prior to his trip, Milei expressed his intention to seek a Free Trade Agreement with the U.S. and improve the conditions of Argentina's relationship with the International Monetary Fund, with which the South American country has significant debt. 'We can advance in greater trade agreements with the U.S. in the same way we are advancing with China,' affirmed the Argentine president.

Milei had a phone conversation with Trump on Tuesday, during which the U.S. president revealed to him that he is his 'favorite president' of America and expressed his intention to work together for both countries to prosper. The informal meetings between Milei and Trump have strengthened the mutual admiration between the two politicians, who exchanged good wishes for their respective political projects.

Milei's trip to the U.S. will be brief, as he will later receive French President Emmanuel Macron in Buenos Aires, participate in the G20 summit in Brazil, and then receive Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in the Argentine capital. According to Mercedes Schlapp, one of the leaders of CPAC, Javier Milei will become an ally of Trump in the fight against communism in Latin America during Donald Trump's second term. Schlapp emphasized that Milei's message of freedom and anti-communism is crucial in the region and that the Latin American president is shaping up as a link between Trump and Latin America.
