Villarruel: The conviction of Kirchner is a humiliation

Vice President Victoria Villarruela expressed her opinion on the second-instance conviction of former President Cristina Kirchner, considering it a "humiliation to the Argentine people." Villarruela stated that it is a great humiliation for the Argentine people to have a former president of the Nation convicted.

The Federal Criminal Cassation Chamber confirmed the six-year prison sentence and permanent disqualification from holding public office for the former president. For Villarruela, this conviction does not reflect the situation of Argentines, but rather shows the behavior of political leaders who have benefited by taking advantage of the suffering and poverty of the people.

The vice president affirmed that this is not about "lawfare" or proscription, but about justice. She emphasized that the theft of dignity cannot be free for citizens. Moreover, she mentioned that the worst punishment should be irrelevance and forgetfulness towards the most destructive events that happened to the country, referring to Kirchnerism.

The defense of former President Cristina Kirchner plans to appeal the Cassation ruling to the Supreme Court of Justice to continue the legal process.
