Milei and Trump Discuss Economic Cooperation

President Javier Milei expressed that his government can move forward in greater trade agreements with the United States after Donald Trump's electoral victory. Milei stated that his administration could negotiate a free trade agreement with the U.S., similar to what he did with China.

In a phone conversation with Trump, Milei felt a great honor and mentioned that the U.S. president said he would support him, adding that he was his favorite president. Although the possibility of economic assistance for Argentina was not discussed, Milei is confident of obtaining U.S. support to continue negotiations with the IMF.

During the conversation, they talked about the importance of making America great again, citing Trump's campaign slogan. Milei emphasized that Trump's victory represents good news for the U.S. and that the defeat of the 'wokes' is positive.

The phone communication, which lasted 11 minutes, was described by Milei as very pleasant and revealed that Trump showed interest in supporting him. The Argentine president commented that when raising these issues he felt alone and that his government prefers to work with him rather than with other governments, which makes him feel more comfortable.
