Atepsa Announces Strike Schedule Affecting Flights

The Atepsa union will implement intermittent strikes starting November 16, affecting international flight departures across 54 airports in Argentina. The strikes aim to secure better salary negotiations and highlight the importance of air navigation services as an essential public service.

The Association of Technicians and Employees of Protection and Security for Aeronautics (Atepsa) has communicated a schedule of labor measures that will extend from November 16 until the end of the month. The plan includes intermittent strikes that will affect different segments of aviation in Argentina.

On Saturday, international flight departures will be affected between 8 PM and 11 PM local time. On Monday, the 18th, general aviation and irregular commercial flights will be impacted from 3 PM to 6 PM, while on Wednesday, the 20th, from 7 AM to 9 AM, and on Friday, the 22nd, from 6 PM to 8 PM, the strike will affect all departure operations in aviation, including airports such as Jorge Newbery.

The air traffic controllers' union has initiated these measures to demand freedom in collective bargaining and to obtain a salary increase commensurate with their responsibilities. They argue that since it is an essential public service, they will exercise their constitutional right to strike according to legal agreements.

In this context, the union action will only affect aircraft departures at the country's airports, without affecting ground operations. Additionally, exceptions have been established for emergency situations related to health services, organ transport, humanitarian missions, among others.
