Alejandro Oxenford Named New Ambassador to the USA

The Argentine businessman Alejandro Carlos Francisco Oxenford, known as Alec, has been appointed as Argentina's ambassador to the United States. Known for founding two companies with a market valuation of over one billion dollars, Oxenford has excelled in the business world since the first wave of dot-com companies. He graduated in Business Administration from UCA and obtained an MBA from Harvard in the late 1990s.

One of his early major successes was DeRemate, a company founded in 1999 as an online auction site. In an interview, Oxenford acknowledged his competitive relationship with Marcos Galperin, founder of Mercado Libre, since they were young. Both attended San Andrés school and maintained a rivalry similar to that of Boca-River or Coca-Cola and Pepsi.

DeRemate experienced rapid growth, going from 3,000 products on its platform to two million users in just three years. Subsequently, Oxenford founded other successful companies such as OLX, dedicated to the online sale of cars, and LetGo, an app specialized in used products.
