National Deputy of the Civic Coalition Mónica Frade has presented a declaration project in repudiation of the statement from the President's Office. The statement informed of the intention to audit the career staff of the Foreign Ministry for having voted against the United States embargo on Cuba. Frade harshly criticized this measure, accusing Javier Milei's administration of having a "fascist" approach and wanting to identify those it considers enemies of freedom.
In the document, the deputy expresses her concern for what she perceives as an attempt to control free thought and a persecutory campaign against those who do not align with the government's guidelines. Frade sarcastically mentioned the possibility of creating a Ministry of Ideology or a Ministry of Truth in the style of George Orwell's novel 1984, suggesting that this measure is excessive and undermines individual freedoms.
The declaration project also has the signatures of other legislators from various opposition parties, who share Frade's concerns. They believe that the decision to initiate an internal investigation in the Foreign Ministry is a dangerous step that limits freedom of expression and thought. Frade denounced on her social media what she described as fascist behavior by the government, emphasizing the importance of respecting diverse opinions in a democracy.
The deputy criticized the expulsion of former chancellor Diana Mondino and pointed out that the situation in the Foreign Ministry is becoming increasingly troubling. Frade believes that the proposed audit in the presidential statement is a paranoid and persecutory gesture towards those who think differently in the institution. In her argument, the legislator highlights the importance of preserving the plurality of ideas and respecting dissent in a democratic regime, strongly questioning the government's actions in this regard.
