Persecutions in democracy worry pilots in Argentina

The Secretary General of the Airline Pilots Association (APLA), Pablo Biró, revealed that his family has been the target of harassment and persecution, which led him to file a preventive habeas corpus to protect his loved ones. Biró mentioned that unmarked vans have followed them, taking photos of his daughters and wife, while expressing his fear for his family's safety.

Biró highlighted the support received after these events, mentioning displays of solidarity from various organizations, including that of the Secretary General of the Association of State Workers (ATE), Rodolfo Aguiar. He also noted that he was criminally reported by someone from the National Ministry of Security, which he considers an attempt at intimidation.

The union leader explained that workers at Aerolíneas Argentinas have class B shares since the privatization in the 90s, which gives them decision-making power in the company. Despite the persecution suffered, Biró stated that he will not be intimidated and will continue to defend the rights of workers.
