Rejection of AFIP Dissolution by Workers' Union

The SUPARA union has expressed strong opposition to the dissolution of AFIP and the mass layoffs of 3,155 workers, citing violations of constitutional and labor rights. They warn this move undermines state integrity and public service protection.

Rejection of AFIP Dissolution by Workers' Union

The Unified Union of Customs Personnel of the Argentine Republic (SUPARA) has expressed its total rejection of the dissolution of the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP) and the mass disassociation of workers from the agency. In a statement issued in response to the decision announced by the Office of the President of the Nation, SUPARA has expressed its strong opposition to these measures, labeling them as untimely and contrary to the National Constitution and current labor regulations.

In the statement, the union highlighted that the mass dismissal of 3,155 AFIP agents, who entered the agency through audited selection processes, constitutes a clear violation of labor rights established in the Constitution, especially regarding the job stability guaranteed by article 14 bis. SUPARA emphasized that this stability cannot be violated under any pretext, as it would go against legal security and the principle of equality before the law.

Additionally, the union pointed out that the dissolution of AFIP represents an attempt to weaken the State and its control powers, to the detriment of the collective interest. SUPARA has denounced that under the supposed 'modernization of the State,' the Government is dismantling essential structures to guarantee the sovereignty and economic development of the country, which affects not only the workers but also the very function of the State in protecting public assets and enforcing the law.

In light of this situation, SUPARA has called for a general assembly for its workers, reaffirming its position against the dissolution of AFIP and firmly rejecting the measure taken by the Government of Javier Milei.
