The Federal Justice with electoral competence of Corrientes confirmed the presidency of Gustavo Valdés at the head of the provincial UCR. The confirmation came after rejecting a second appeal filed against the proclamation of the "Vamos Radicales" list, which is led by the governor.
The issued resolution adds to the previous ruling by Judge Gustavo Fresneda, who last week definitively rejected a challenge filed by associates of Ricardo Colombi against Valdés and other members of his list who aspired to hold party positions.
The first appeal aimed to overturn the decision of the Electoral Board, which had dismissed multiple challenges against the candidates of "Vamos Radicales". With this latest judicial decision, the proclamation of the candidates is reaffirmed, as the list led by Valdés was the only one submitted at the provincial level.
The judicial ruling highlights that the appeal against Act No. 5 of the Party Electoral Board is rejected, thus confirming the provisions of this internal body. Valdés had obtained the support of mayors, legislators, and councilors from across the province to lead the list, which, after overcoming the challenges, consolidates him as the president of the party at the provincial level.
