Political trial request against Javier Milei

Senator Carlos Linares requests a political trial against President Javier Milei for his threats towards Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, arguing that his statements are incompatible with his position.

Political trial request against Javier Milei

Kirchnerist senator Carlos Linares presented a request for impeachment against President Javier Milei for his statements about former President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. Linares considered that Milei's words incite violence and have no place in Argentine politics. The resolution project points out that Milei has committed a serious act and that his words are incompatible with the position he holds in a Republican Nation like Argentina.

In his reasoning, the senator emphasized that it is unacceptable for a president to suggest wanting to assassinate the main figure of the political opposition, in this case, Cristina Fernández de Kirchner. Linares stressed that these comments exceed the limits imposed by the democratic system and go against the duties that citizenship and the National Constitution impose on the maximum representative of the Government.

The impeachment request must be addressed by the Impeachment Commission, which has not yet been formed due to internal differences within the ruling party. The appointment of the president of this commission, Marcela Pagano, has not been ratified, so a definition is expected in this regard. This has led to no impeachment requests being addressed so far this year, despite other requests against ministers, such as one presented against Chancellor Diana Mondino.

In this context, the request for impeachment against Milei is pending evaluation by the Commission once internal differences in the ruling party are resolved. Linares emphasized the importance of promoting respect and responsibility in the exercise of public functions, especially by the highest authorities of the Government.
