The cut in resources for the provinces has generated concern among local leaders, who are unwilling to deepen the adjustment. Governors of Santa Fe, Corrientes, Entre Ríos, Chaco, Misiones, and Formosa recently met to establish the "Litoral Region" and discuss with the national government issues such as the 2025 Budget, public works, road maintenance, the waterway, and pension funds.
During the event, Santa Fe's governor, Maximiliano Pullaro, emphasized the importance of making an impact on the parliamentary agenda that defends the interests of the Litoral. For his part, Rogelio Frigerio highlighted the need for national authorities to consider the provinces' opinions on crucial issues such as the Paraná waterway.
The provinces are demanding funds owed by the national government, especially for pension funds, as national transfers have undergone a drastic cut this year, significantly affecting the territories. The Encuentro Foundation estimates that the provinces will lose around 5 billion dollars in the 2025 Budget due to specific allocations.
On the other hand, governors like Sáenz, Jalil, Jaldo, and Passalacqua have held conversations with high-ranking government officials regarding budget issues and benefits for their provinces. The Budget Committee of the Chamber of Deputies will be the space to discuss the 2025 Budget, although the precise date has not yet been confirmed.
In this context, provincial leaders from the Northern Great continue to request that the national government include in the 2025 Budget the agreements of the Mayo Pact to ensure an equitable distribution of resources. A cautious attitude prevails among the governors, who are alert to protect their provinces' interests amid budget discussions with the central Executive.
