Rodolfo Aguiar, General Secretary of ATE Nacional, stated: "At this time, and after the labor reform was approved, all work, employment, and social security policies are threatened, as well as the jobs in this sector throughout the country." In this context, the leader pointed out: "The Government is trying to advance with a new structure in the Secretariat and, through it, deepen the shrinking and dismantling of the National State." ATE Nacional declared a state of alert and permanent assembly and announced that it "does not rule out" taking direct action measures in the Secretariat of Labor in the face of the new threat of layoffs and dismantling of the portfolio driven by the labor reform. "We have defined a state of maximum alert at the national headquarters of Labor, but also in all territorial agencies. ALL WORK, EMPLOYMENT, AND SOCIAL SECURITY POLICIES ARE THREATENED! After the regressive and exploitative labor reform, which aims to take labor relations back to the 19th century, was sanctioned by Congress, the truth is that the Government finds favorable conditions in this area to attempt a new offensive in the institutional emptying and destruction of the historical functions of our portfolio," they stated. "Let the national authorities, let Federico Sturzenegger know, that the workers of our agency are going to defend public policies, the reason for being and the historical functions of our portfolio and all the jobs. We are not going to allow any comrade to be left in the street and we are going to defend to the last consequences all the jobs of our agency," they added. The union indicated that the sanction of the labor reform places the role and historical functions of the portfolio in an extremely critical situation, in a context of dismantling and destruction of the State that the national government has waved as a management banner since its assumption in December 2023. Hernán Izurieta, Delegate of the National Coordination of ATE Trabajo, indicated: "The workers of the Secretariat of Work, Employment and Social Security have been resisting for more than a year the attempts to dismantle our organism by the Ministry of Deregulation of the State headed by Federico Sturzenegger."
