Argentine Transport Unions Announce General Strike

In response to the government's labor reform, Argentine transport unions, including UGATT and La Fraternidad, have joined the CGT's 24-hour national strike. All passenger transport will be completely halted on the day of the parliamentary vote.

Union sources confirmed to this medium that the date of the protest will be the same day the labor reform is debated in the Chamber of Deputies. To this news, La Fraternidad has also added its confirmation of the decision to completely paralyze transport during the national strike called by the CGT. In this way, services such as buses, trains, taxis, flights, and others will be affected on the day of the protest. Hours after the confirmation from the labor center about the strike without mobilization against the government's project, the transport unions announced through an official statement that they are joining the CGT's decision for a 24-hour national strike. On the day the labor reform is debated in the Chamber of Deputies, there will be no transport. The unions enrolled in UGATT GARANTIZAMOS the TOTAL STRIKE of passenger transport media,” says the text that circulated today. It adds: “In defense of Argentine work, and in defense of our right to strike. As explained in a recent interview, the measure will be implemented on the same day the labor reform is debated in the Chamber of Deputies and responds to the growing demands from union bases: “Workers in the bases are restless and want to fight.” “UGATT informs society that it adheres to and fully complies with what was resolved by the CGT's board of directors announcing a NATIONAL GENERAL STRIKE. Always with the conviction of defending our rights as workers enshrined in the National Constitution”.
