Buenos Aires, Feb. 12 (NA) – Buenos Aires, Formosa, La Pampa, La Rioja, Misiones, and Tierra del Fuego this Thursday called on the national government to urgently convene the Federal Council of Labor (CFT) to analyze the scope of the labor reform bill, which has already been passed in the Senate.
The request was directed to the Secretary of Labor, Julio Cordero, via a note signed by the heads of the labor ministries of those provinces. In the document, they argued that the discussion cannot be limited to Congress and must incorporate the positions of the provincial governments.
With the exception of Misiones, these are provinces governed by governors who oppose the labor reform.
Provincial ministers and secretaries warned that the law would have an impact not only on labor matters but also on fiscal policy and the inspection scheme, which depends on the jurisdictions, according to the text accessed by the Argentine News Agency.
Among the signatories is the Minister of Labor of Buenos Aires, Walter Correa, who has a recent past as a unionist, along with labor authorities from Formosa, La Pampa, La Rioja, Misiones, and Tierra del Fuego.
They recalled that the Federal Labor Pact (Law 25.212) establishes the obligation for the CFT to meet at least every three months, a deadline that must be respected, especially in debates that compromise the labor, fiscal, and inspection interests of each jurisdiction.
“The CFT cannot be a mere echo chamber; it is a tool for solving concrete problems,” they stated in the note.
