In Buenos Aires, four individuals, including a minor, who were part of a gang dedicated to home invasions in the La Matanza district, have been arrested for robbing a 79-year-old retiree.
According to the police report accessed by Noticias Argentinas, the suspects were identified as Cesar Machado, 32; Benjamin Ambrosoni, 21; Luis Benitez, 28; and a 16-year-old minor with the initials C.M.E. The apprehensions were carried out by the La Matanza Division of Investigations (DDI) on charges of aggravated robbery using a firearm, committed in an inhabited area, as part of a criminal group, and with the participation of a minor. They are also charged with attempted concealment and illegal possession of a firearm.
During the operation, various tools, gloves, a cloth mask used to conceal the thieves' faces, backpacks, a mask, a .32 caliber revolver, projectiles, a car reported stolen, and cellphones were seized.
As explained by the official account, officers were patrolling the San Justo area in the early morning hours when they spotted two vehicles, each with one occupant, at different points on the same block. An operation was launched as one of the vehicles had an active arrest warrant.
Upon being intercepted, two suspects fled from inside a house and one got into one of the vehicles, a pattern repeated by the others. All were apprehended in the area where they attempted to escape.
During the investigation, it was established that the 32-year-old thief, Machado, had a pending arrest warrant since 2018 for fraud and illicit association, requested by the prosecutor's office in Puerto Madryn. He also has a record for aggravated negligent injury, attempted homicide, and qualified robbery. Meanwhile, the 28-year-old Benitez has previous charges for aggravated robbery and violation of domicile.
