The goal is to transform the federal police into a force focused on dismantling criminal organizations, rather than patrolling streets, which is the role of local police. The authorities cite the example of the United States Border Patrol as a model to follow. Although the creation of the Border Police does not require significant financial outlay, as it will be achieved by reallocating existing resources, the budget for 2026 remains an unresolved issue.
