The Ministry of National Security has approved the creation of the new 'Crime Investigator for Professionals' career within the Argentine Federal Police, as part of the modernization and comprehensive reform process approved by Decree 383/2025. The initiative aims to strengthen institutional capabilities in the prevention, detection, and investigation of complex crimes. It incorporates the admission of university graduates in strategic disciplines such as engineering, administration, technology, criminalistics, computer science, and exact sciences, granting graduates a 'University Diploma in Criminal Investigation.' The regime provides for a specific selection system—including an Interinstitutional Committee—, differential training criteria and incentives, and the professionalization of subordinate police personnel with a verifiable track record in investigation and special operations areas. The measure is part of the new Federal Police statute and establishes age, background, and certification requirements for admission, along with a nine-month technical and police training period before assuming the position.
