The Investigating Commission of the Chamber of Deputies into the Libra mega-fraud decided to file an extraordinary appeal with the Supreme Court to reverse the justice system's decision that prevents the summoning of the General Secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei, by force and other executive branch officials.
This decision was made at the commission's last meeting, chaired by Maximiliano Ferraro (Civic Coalition), which took place prior to the presentation of the reports that will be presented on November 18 at 4:00 PM.
In that report, each bloc will state whether President Javier Milei was responsible for this fraud, since after Milei published a tweet about this cryptocurrency offer, its price went from $0.01 to $5 in a few hours and then its value plummeted.
The lawmakers object to Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi and Prosecutor Eduardo Taiano not allowing access to the file or bringing Karina Milei and other executive branch officials by force.
The former head of the Justice Ministry's Cabinet Office, María Florencia Zicavo; the head of the Anti-Corruption Office, Alejandro Melik; the head of the National Securities Commission (CNV), Roberto Silva; and the head of the Fiscal Investigation Unit, Paul Starc, did not appear to testify before the commission.
Martínez de Giorgi's decision was upheld by the Federal Chamber at the end of October, and for this reason, the deputies are seeking to file an extraordinary appeal with the Supreme Court before the final report is drafted.
Ferraro stated that «the filing of the extraordinary appeal with the Supreme Court is within the ten business days provided for after the appeal ruling».
The decision to push forward complaints against federal Judge Marcelo Martínez de Giorgi, Prosecutor Eduardo Taiano, and executive branch officials Mariano Puño Libarón, Alejandro Medic, Florencia Cicavo, Roberto Silva, Paula Paulo Stack, and Sergio Morales was ratified.
Ferraro informed that it was authorized «for the administrative secretariat of the commission to incorporate into the file all information and documentation that enters after November 10».
At the end of October, the Investigating Commission had identified links between businessman Manuel Terrones Godoy, crypto operator Mauricio Novelli, and the company KIP Protocol, related to the crypto-fraud that was disseminated in February of this year from President Milei's account.
At last week's meeting, the commission addressed «key information for the investigation».
