The Governor of Buenos Aires Province, Axel Kicillof, published an open letter this Saturday addressed to Javier Milei, in which he harshly criticized the national government's economic course. Additionally, after being excluded from the meeting with governors, he demanded the opening of a 'genuine dialogue' that includes all sectors and respects federalism. The meeting at the Casa Rosada, convened after the legislative elections on Sunday, included the signatories of the May Pact.
In his message, the governor called the President's decision an 'anti-democratic gesture' and 'contrary to the federal spirit'. He also denounced the negative impact of adjustment policies on Argentine society.
In his letter, Kicillof warned that the recession, the fall in consumption, and the increase in social anguish persist despite the change in tone in presidential communication. He also acknowledged the favorable result obtained by La Libertad Avanza in the national elections on October 26, but emphasized that the effects of the official economic model continue to affect retirees, workers, merchants, industrialists, students, and vulnerable and middle sectors.
According to the governor, the adjustment implemented by the national government translates into a deep recession, job loss, and a widespread climate of despair.
