In the city of Balsa Las Perlas, Río Negro Province, a woman was murdered. The victim was repeatedly struck with a blunt object, believed to be a glass bottle that broke during the attack. While in an agonized state and unable to defend herself, she was further assaulted with a knife, sustaining 17 wounds to her chest, back, and thighs. However, the fatal injury was caused by the broken bottle around her neck. According to the Provincial Public Prosecutor's Office, there is a risk of hindering the investigation, which was the basis for the preventive custody imposed in two previous instances. Defense attorneys challenged the prosecution's arguments, stating that freedom during the trial is the rule, while preventive custody is an exception. Following the hearing on October 29, the judge revoked a previous decision to release the accused under electronic monitoring, ordering him to remain in custody until February 3, 2026, during the preliminary investigation phase. The victim's body was found on August 26, 2023, in an area known as 'The Dump', at kilometer 4 of Provincial Route 75.
