Milei Confirms 'New Economic Roadmap' After Election Victory

Following the legislative election victory, Argentine President Javier Milei has confirmed his intention to implement three key reforms—labor, tax, and pension reforms—as the foundation of his 'May Pact'. The new political landscape in Congress, he says, paves the way for a 'new political stage' and the realization of structural changes.

The president also showed his willingness to negotiate with governors to reach the necessary consensus for laws to advance.

Economic Promises Javier Milei assured that the implementation of these reforms will generate strong economic growth.

With a reconfigured Congress in his favor following the legislative triumph, President Javier Milei reaffirmed that the Government will push the "new economic roadmap", focused on labor, tax, and pension reforms, the pillars of the "May Pact".

The overwhelming result obtained by La Libertad Avanza (LLA) in the legislative elections on Sunday not only consolidated the ruling party's support base, but, in the words of Javier Milei himself, opens a "new political stage" to carry out the ambitious plan for structural reforms.

The President anticipated that, starting from December 10, the date on which the new Congress takes office, the legislative offensive will begin to materialize the transformations he promised and which were framed in the so-called "May Pact".

The Pillars of "A Freer Argentina" The central objective, according to the head of state, is to make "Argentina the freest country in the world", which will be supported by the approval of the changes the Government already has sketched out.

The focus is on three key areas that seek to maximize economic freedom and system sustainability:

Labor Reform: The Government already has a preliminary text ready and will seek a modernization of the rules that, they argue, will promote formal employment and allow many informal workers to move to the formal sector.

Tax Reform: The commitment is to move towards a reduction in the tax burden, simplifying the tax scheme to foster commerce and investment. This, in turn, would be accompanied by:

A profound drop in inflation. Drastic falls in poverty and indigence.

With a renewed popular mandate, the Government will seek that this legislative offensive at the end of the year and during the summer consolidates its economic program. A plan to reduce up to 20 taxes is being discussed.

Pension Reform: In order to give sustainability to the system and respect the contributions made, this reform will seek a new scheme for pensions and retirements.

These reforms are added to other key points of the May Pact, such as the inviolability of private property, the non-negotiable fiscal balance, and openness to international trade.

A More Favorable Congress The advance of LLA in Congress, which will grant it the third of the votes necessary to shield presidential vetoes in the Lower House and stripped Peronism of the majority in the Senate, is seen by the Executive as the factor that unblocks the path.

The President was emphatic: "We are going to advance in the structural reforms that we committed to with the Argentines".

This new legislative scenario will be the one that defines, even, the reconfiguration of the Cabinet, which "is designed according to the agreements that it has to go look for", according to Milei.
