The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, announced the presentation of the Anti-Barras bill in the Chamber of Deputies. The objective of this initiative is to fill the legal gaps that allowed the barras bravas to act with impunity. It seeks to penalize club leaders in case of complicity with the barras bravas.
The project is based on the successful "Safe Stands" program, which aims to reinforce measures to dismantle the barras bravas and prevent their presence in stadiums. Bullrich emphasized that there is no proposal to modify the prohibition of the entry of visiting fans to the stadiums, as this is the responsibility of local districts, not at the federal level.
The proposal, drafted by the legal team of the Ministry of Security, aims to classify the barras as illegal associations and treat them as criminal organizations, including those who provide support or facilitate their actions. According to Bullrich, around 15,000 people are already banned from entering stadiums in Argentina.
Bullrich assured that the Anti-Barras bill would prevent violent individuals from entering stadiums, which would dismantle the businesses between clubs and barras. The idea is to continue reducing violence in football and punish those responsible for facilitating it. The presentation of this project was expedited following disturbances that occurred during a protest involving barras bravas.
