President Javier Milei decided to suspend his trip to Santiago, Chile, scheduled for tomorrow due to the catastrophe affecting the city of Bahía Blanca and its surroundings, as confirmed by official sources to the Argentine News Agency. Milei was expected to participate in a seminar organized by Vinci Compass, which specializes in alternative investments and global solutions in Latin America.
The head of state did not have a meeting scheduled with the president of Chile, Gabriel Boric, with whom he does not share ideological affinities. This is not the first time Milei has canceled a commitment, as he previously decided not to attend the Harvest Festival in Mendoza last Saturday to supervise assistance operations in Bahía Blanca from the Quinta de Olivos.
At the Vinci Compass seminar, Milei will be replaced by Santiago Bausili, president of the Central Bank (BCRA), who will take his place as a speaker at the closing of the event. The next trip abroad for Milei is scheduled for the 20th of this month, when he will travel to Madrid to receive the "Salamanca School" Award. Subsequently, the Argentine president's tour will continue in Israel, where he will meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the 23rd of this month.
