Radical lawmaker Carla Carrizo expressed her concern about the lack of support from opposition blocs to present a joint complaint regarding the aggression suffered by Facundo Manes in the Legislative Assembly. She referred to a general deterioration in politics and criticized the fragmentation of national parties.
In an interview on AM 550 Radio Colonia, Carrizo lamented that the complaint could not be made in Congress on Saturday and announced that it will be presented this week before the Justice, as Article 68 of the National Constitution was openly violated. She emphasized that the protection of parliamentary immunity is not to prevent a legislator from going to jail for committing a crime, but to allow them to express themselves without being assaulted.
The lawmaker emphasized that the aggression against Manes reveals a strong power asymmetry and stressed the importance of not normalizing violence in politics. She analyzed that Javier Milei's rise to the presidency is a consequence of the implosion of the political system in the country, and pointed out that this phenomenon should not be normalized. Carrizo compared Milei's rise to 'Cristinism,' highlighting parallels in the political deterioration represented by both phenomena.
