Opening of Congressional Sessions and New Minister

The Legislative Assembly led by Javier Milei on March 1 marked the opening of ordinary sessions of Congress and was the stage for the first public appearance of Manuel García-Mansilla as a minister of the Supreme Court of Justice. The judge, appointed by decree in commission by President Javier Milei, joined magistrates Horacio Rosatti, Carlos Rosenkrantz, and Ricardo Lorenzetti in the chamber. In contrast, the attention of the day was also focused on Ariel Lijo, the other minister of the Court appointed by Milei through the same procedure. Unlike García-Mansilla, Lijo has not yet taken his oath of office, which keeps his incorporation into the court in suspense.

In the words of Manuel García-Mansilla, expressed during his first intervention as a minister of the Supreme Court: "It is an honor and a great challenge to be part of this institution that is so important for justice in our country. I will work tirelessly to ensure impartiality and excellence in every ruling we issue".

The presence of the new ministers in the Legislative Assembly generated different opinions among the legislators present. While some highlighted García-Mansilla's ability and background, others expressed reservations regarding the appointments made by President Milei and the way they were carried out.
