Debate on the Legislative Agenda in Argentina

At an event organized this Tuesday by the Parliamentary Magazine and SpE Consultants, national legislators discussed the legislative agenda that Congress must face this year. The points of debate included a new agreement with the IMF, the appointment of Supreme Court judges, External Debt, and the approval of a Budget in Congress.

Among the speakers were senators and deputies from various political parties. Bartolomé Abdala from Libertad Avanza and the provisional president of the Senate, and José Mayans from Unión por la Patria, the head of the bloc, were some of the participants.

During the event, the relationship between the powers of the State, the actions of Congress, and urgent debate topics were discussed. The importance of analyzing the first year of the new Government's management and the need to address the challenges that arise, especially in an election year, was highlighted.

The legislators present addressed issues such as the defense of the fiscal surplus, the relationship between the Legislative and Executive branches, and the need for agreements to advance long-term projects. The importance of foundational laws was mentioned, and the lack of debate regarding the national Budget was questioned.

Differences in criteria regarding Government decisions were also highlighted, such as the appointment of Supreme Court judges by decree, emphasizing the need for such an agreement to pass through Congress. Furthermore, the importance of addressing the issue of External Debt was raised.

Participants agreed on the need to promote laws that benefit the population in the long term and the importance of dialogue and political responsibility. Challenges that Congress will face in the new legislative year were mentioned, and the importance of working in consensus to achieve significant progress was emphasized.
