Milei to Appoint Judges to Supreme Court by Decree

President Javier Milei will make the decision to appoint judges Ariel Lijo and Manuel García-Mansilla by decree with the aim of expanding the composition of the Supreme Court. Currently, the court is made up of only three members after the resignation of Juan Carlos Maqueda.

Sources close to the matter report that the Executive Power has already drafted the decree to appoint the judges and is considering publishing it in the Official Bulletin next Wednesday, February 26. Although the ruling party's attempt to address Lijo's bill in the Senate during the extraordinary sessions failed, the president is determined to move forward with the appointments, even without the support of the two-thirds required.

If this action is realized, Lijo will have to request a leave of absence from his federal court once the Senate approves the appointment by decree. However, there are sectors that demand he resign from his current position.
