Alberto Fernandez Charged with Assault Allegations

One of the judges in Argentina presented accusations against former president Alberto Fernández regarding domestic violence against his ex-wife Fabiola Yáñez in the official presidential palace. The investigation continued for a week and concluded with Judge Julián Ercolani issuing accusations against Fernández including "serious assault", threats and unspecified acts of violence based on gender.

Fernández did not provide an official comment regarding the accusations, however, he previously stated: "If anyone suffers from an assault in relationships, it is me, and if someone has to endure humiliation and poor treatment, it is I." Additionally, the former president of Argentina stated that he feels ashamed of the incidents involving women in the country.

During the investigation, photographs of the ex-first lady were discovered, showing bruises on her face and arm, which caused widespread outrage in society. Former vice-president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner noted that the issue reveals "one of the darkest aspects of human activity".

The legal case comes in circumstances where Fernández is also implicated in corruption cases related to multi-million financial machinations. The judicial investigation confirmed that Yáñez suffered both physical and psychological violence over a span of 14 years and that her husband always sought to control her, committing psychological terror and physical assaults.

The restriction of Fernández in relation to Yáñez, the judge also noted, is that the former president informed about his travels abroad. On the backdrop of these events, the current president of Argentina Javier Milei took the opportunity to express criticism towards Fernández and carry out a series of reforms aimed at reducing government spending, including the liquidation of the Ministry of Women's Policy, established by the former president.
