A group of workers has gathered at the door of the Ministry of Social Development in the city center in rejection of the termination of 2,800 contracts that will be effective on February 28. They expressed their concern about possible mass layoffs and the significant reduction of the agency, which would lead to the elimination of social policies aimed at assisting people in emergency situations and social vulnerability.
In statements, it was mentioned that carrying out this adjustment would lead to the total abandonment of the needs of the Argentine people, leaving the population immersed in poverty and neglected in various important aspects such as food, health, and support in crisis situations. Minister Pettovello and Minister Sturzenegger have been pointed out as responsible for these decisions that will negatively impact the population.
On the other hand, Rodolfo Aguiar, general secretary of ATE Nacional, denounced on his social networks that at PAMI, where he has worked for 23 years, they are seeking to dismiss him. Aguiar stated that despite these attempts, they will not cease their manifestations and protest measures, indicating that conflict will continue to escalate.
Clashes have been recorded between Prefectura agents and ATE protesters near the Ministry of Human Capital. According to testimonies, the forces repressed the protesters who opposed the closure of the National Secretariat for Childhood, Adolescence, and Family and the disconnection of the 2,800 workers from the agency. Daniel Catalano, general secretary of ATE Capital, denounced that during the protest, the security forces repressed with rubber bullets and tear gas.
The different parties involved have expressed their determination to continue with mobilizations and measures of force in defense of the workers and against these decisions that directly affect the vulnerable population.
