The Senate will discuss various projects on Thursday, including the suspension of the Primaries, Open, Simultaneous and Mandatory Elections (PASO), as well as initiatives related to security and the judicial sphere. The parliamentary working meeting was held in the office of Vice President Victoria Villarruel. At the moment, there is no certainty about whether the appointment of federal judge Ariel Lijo, proposed by the Government for a position on the Supreme Court, will be discussed.
Additionally, Emilio Viramonte Olmos will be appointed to replace the Administrative Secretary, María Laura Izzo, who resigned after a year of intense wear and tear. Along with electoral reform, aspects related to recidivism, Trial in Absence, and the Anti-Mafia Law will be debated, projects that have already received halfway approval from the Chamber of Deputies.
The session will take place in a context marked by the scandal generated by the memecoin LIBRA promoted by President Javier Milei, which led to numerous calls for investigation and a political trial initiated by the Union for the Fatherland (UxP) bloc. The session could be moved to next Friday, although no time has been confirmed.
On the other hand, the preparatory session to renew the authorities of the Upper House and welcome Stefanía Cora, the successor of former senator Edgardo Kueider, will take place on Monday at 16:00.
