The President of Argentina, Javier Milei, is facing a complaint in the United States for alleged fraud related to the launch of the cryptocurrency $LIBRA. The investigation also involves other officials and participants in the cryptocurrency project.
According to the lawyer who filed the complaint, the companies that backed $LIBRA were not registered with the SEC (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission), the American regulatory body. They also did not have authorization to act as brokers, financial advisors, or investment agents in Argentina.
The complaint mentions Hayden Davis, who presents himself as an advisor in the launch of the cryptocurrency, but there are no official records verifying his identity. An investigation into the shareholders and directors of Kip Network, Kelsen Ventures, Animoca Ventures, and T2LATAM is requested, as well as protection of the assets of potential victims.
The accusation also calls for an investigation into the wealth of Hayden Davis, Julián Peh, Mauricio Novelli, and Terrones Godoy, as well as inquiries into the role of the President of Argentina, Javier Milei, in the matter.
Deputy Julia Strada from Unión por la Patria commented on the complaint, highlighting that it is the first filed in the United States against Milei and the shareholders of the crypto-asset companies on behalf of U.S. residents.
The complaint was filed by the Argentine law firm Moyano & Asociados, specializing in international insolvency cases and financial fraud. It was submitted to the Department of Justice and the FBI. According to the deputy, what has been presented by the complaining lawyer is becoming increasingly serious.
