Criminal Complaint Against President Milei for Cryptocurrency

Former Congressman and former director of the National Bank, Claudio Lozano, has filed a criminal complaint against President Javier Milei regarding the case of the cryptocurrency $Libra. Lozano accuses the president of participating in a "fraud" and being part of an "illicit association."

In statements to Radio Splendid, Lozano claimed that the president was a protagonist of an illicit association that carried out a fraud through the issuance of the cryptocurrency $Libra. The complaint filed by the economist and former national congressman has been assigned to the court of María Romilda Servini and federal prosecutor Eduardo Taiano.

The complaint bears the signatures of Claudio Lozano, Jonatan Baldiviezo (lawyer for the Observatory of the Right to the City), Marcos Zelaya (coordinator of the Law and New Technologies area), and María Eva Koutsovitis (founder of El Movimiento La Ciudad Somos Quienes La Habitamos).

Lozano explained that they are also requesting an expansion of the request for political trial against the president due to acts and expressions that they consider contrary to the National Constitution. In the case of $Libra, Lozano denounced a flagrant violation of the Constitution, the Public Ethics Law, and the duties of a public official, which motivates the criminal complaint.

According to Lozano, the cryptocurrency $Libra did not exist until the president mentioned it in a tweet to supposedly contribute to the growth of Argentina and the libertarian project. He emphasized that only "no more than 10 accounts" controlled 85 percent of the fund, and without restrictions to sell, they carried out the fraud within a span of five hours.

Lozano accused the president of promoting the currency and dictating how to invest in it, in collaboration with figures such as Agustín Laje, Martín Menem, Daniel Parisini, and José Luis Espert. The former congressman believes it is necessary to investigate the "illicit association" and especially the ten central accounts and their connection with the President of the Nation.
