Last weekend, Joaquín Levinton performed at the Cosquín Rock festival with his band Turf. During his performance, the singer joined several artists who expressed their disapproval of President Javier Milei for canceling "without reasons" the concert that Milo Jiba was to give at the former ESMA last week.
In the midst of his presentation, Levinton expressed his outrage at government censorship by mentioning that the song they had just performed, "Todo x nada," reflects the current situation: "Thought police, they highlight all my flaws." The singer criticized the government's lack of judgment in interfering with artists' freedom of expression and choice.
"In no way can we tolerate or allow them to tell us what we have to do: freedom of choice, freedom of thought, and freedom of expression," Levinton stated to the audience. In an act of rebellion, the singer closed his speech with a resounding "So in this way, I’m going to say Milei, suck my d***."
With these words, Joaquín Levinton joined the dissenting voices of the Argentine artistic community, denouncing censorship and defending the importance of creative and expressive freedom in society.
