Controversy over cryptocurrency and political trial in Argentina

National Deputy of the Socialist Party, Esteban Paulón, stated in an interview on Radio Splendid that, although the promotion of cryptocurrencies may be legal, President Javier Milei violated the Public Ethics Code. Paulón is requesting a political trial for the head of state, arguing that Milei spent five hours inciting people to buy the cryptocurrency in question.

The politician pointed out that the promotion took place on a Friday afternoon, when traditional markets are closed, while cryptocurrencies operate 24/7. Additionally, Paulón mentioned that they have requested information from Guillermo Francos about the company backing the cryptocurrency, which is registered in Panama.

"We propose the political trial so that the President can exercise his right to defense. So he can tell us what he intended to do," Paulón added in the interview. He stated that it is important to clarify the situation and that they are waiting for explanations from the relevant authorities.
