Cristina Fernández Accuses Javier Milei of Digital Fraud

Former Argentine president Cristina Fernández accused the current president, Javier Milei, of acting as "the hook of a digital scam" by promoting and then deleting posts about a cryptocurrency on his social media. Milei had supported a crypto token claiming it would be used to help small and medium enterprises in Argentina. Fernández criticized Milei for inflating its value, benefiting a few while harming many, who lost millions in a matter of hours.

"And, to top it off, then you say you weren't informed! That's your market freedom... the casino's. Weren't you 'the genius of the economy'? Weren't you 'the best president in history'? Your mask has fallen," said Fernández. They will request an investigation into Milei in Congress and ask for a report on possible crimes. The company behind the cryptocurrency, KIP Protocol, stated that Milei was not involved in the project.

Milei posted a clarification, asserting that he was unaware of the project's details and decided to delete the tweet to avoid further spreading it. Fernández criticized Milei's handling, accusing him of inflating the asset's value by exploiting his presidential position. The company behind the coin, 'Libra,' experienced a rise in its value following Milei's promotion, but subsequently suffered a crash.
