The Ministry of National Security of Argentina has registered the Ancestral Mapuche Resistance (RAM) in the Public Registry of Persons and Entities Linked to Acts of Terrorism and their Financing. This registry is regulated by Decree No. 918/2012, which includes individuals or entities associated with activities that pose a threat to national security.
The RAM has been operating in Argentina for over 15 years, with a presence in Neuquén, Río Negro, and Chubut, as well as connections with the Arauco Malleco Coordinator (CAM) from Chile. The organization has been noted for instilling fear in communities through violent actions and roadblocks.
The Argentine Government has prepared a list of incidents attributed to the RAM from 2010 to 2025, which includes various acts such as Molotov cocktail bombings, homicides, arson, attacks on vehicles, land usurpation, kidnappings, theft, and arson of properties, among others.
According to the report, the RAM has carried out a series of actions that include arson, armed attacks, usurpations, sabotage of infrastructure, and threats to the population. It is mentioned that the group has committed crimes against property and public safety, promoting violent resistance against the State and private property.
The decision to include the RAM in the RePET is based on a technical-legal report detailing the organization's activities in the country and its impact on national security. The registration is supported by the Ministries Law No. 22.520 and the Internal Security Law No. 24.059, which establish the responsibility of the Ministry of National Security in maintaining public order.
Francisco Facundo Jones Huala is identified as one of the leaders of the RAM, with a criminal record in Chile for participating in similar activities. The document highlights that the RAM has affected production, commerce, and tourism in Patagonia, in addition to causing wildfires with significant environmental and economic consequences.
