The Public Prosecutor's Office identified the individual who shot a projectile at the assistant referee's head during the match against Talleres through security cameras.
According to the prosecutor in charge of the case, Ana Giannoni, the 40-year-old suspect has been placed under investigation, and a search warrant was ordered at his home. During the operation, items were seized to conduct ballistic tests.
"We have evidence that clearly allows us to identify him as the material author of the assault on the assistant referee. Furthermore, we have testimonies that point to him as responsible for throwing the projectile," Giannoni stated.
The individual could face charges for serious injuries and throwing objects at sporting events, crimes punishable under the Penal Code. The investigation continues to fully clarify the case and determine if there were more individuals involved in the incident.
